Color: crystal clear.
Nose: salt, shoe polish, jamón, cardboard, wood glue, agave, olives, parmesan cheese, smoke, tar, burnt rubber, chocolate, dried herbs, dried lime zest, roasted Hatch peppers, pickled wild garlic, sunflower oil. An incredible range that continues to unfold over time!
Taste: salt, dark chocolate, paste glue, smoke, rubber, ash, agave, lime, red currants, pepper.
Finish: orange Fanta, rubber, salt, paste glue, red currants, agave, lemons, pepper, cloves, smoke.
Score: 8 ¾. Better than good. +3+1+1.

Conclusion: what an aroma! As intense and captivating as the finest Islay malt whiskies, with deep smokiness and phenolic elements, despite the very different production approaches. Wow, this is something else entirely, a world apart from cheap, regular expressions like Monte Alban con gusano. This undiluted, unaged mezcal belongs to the ancestral category (not just artisanal), distilled in a traditional clay pot. It's not easy for me to rate craft mezcal yet, since I don't have a clear baseline, but I'm doing my best and looking forward to diving deeper into this world.

P.S. A good site with mezcal reviews: https://www.mezcalreviews.com/

P.P.S. Para todo mal, mezcal, y para todo bien, también; y si no hay remedio, litro y medio!
