Color: golden.
Nose: iodine, peat, malt, sardines in oil, tar, lemons, dried mango, clove, smoke, cantaloupe, damp newspaper, ash, peaches. Great combination of smoky and fruity notes.
Taste: smoky and oily, gingerbread, lemons, limes, some spice, peat, oak, mango, wax, rubber, green tea.
Finish: smoke, peat, gingerbread, limes, rubber, spice, honey, herbs, a bit of salt.
Score: 9. Between good and excellent. +2+2+2.

Conclusion: wow, this is a serious malt! A mature peated whisky with a lot of interesting nuances, a solid 90/100. First Ballechin has been distilled in 2003, so this batch has one of the oldest casks. My 900th single malt Scotch whisky tasted.
