Annandale 2017/2023 tasting notes
Jun. 13th, 2025 06:29 pmAnnandale NAS OB for Master of Malt 70cl 60% ABV
Man O' Sword range
Distilled 2017, bottled 2023
Cask type: ex-Bourbon
Cask no: 1480
Sample

Color: dark gold.
Nose: vanilla, ash, a lot of fresh-cut wood, fruity bubble gum, a bit of tar, cereals, pineapples, peat, smoke, sardines in oil, oranges, heather.
Taste: peat, smoke, salted caramel, pepper, apricots, toffee, banana, lemon zest.
Finish: toffee, apples, lemons, pepper, peat, smoke, vanilla.
Score: 8 ½. Good. +1+2+1.
Conclusion: a really interesting peated Lowland whisky! A bit too much wood in the aroma, but I love salted caramel on the palate. A very nice cask, 86/100. Annandale's peated series is called Man O' Sword, while unpeated Man O' Words. Clever and cheeky. My 116th Scotch distillery tasted.
