Color: golden.
Nose: smoke, peat, iodine, seaweed, rubber tourniquet, machine oil, vanilla, wood, lemon zest, pears, blackcurrant leaves, wet newspaper, burnt plastic, charred rubber, rose pepper, heated metal, and grilled meat. Absolutely love these aromas!
Taste: deeply smoky and oily, almost enveloping. Notes of Lugol's solution, sweet pears, pepper, chocolate, salt, honey, wood, tooth powder, and lemons.
Finish: lingering smoke, pepper, salt, red currants, peat, chocolate, mint, and a pronounced woody presence.
Score: 9. Between good and excellent. +2+2+2.

Conclusion: I had missed this particular batch, so it's great to finally taste it — even in the form of a small sample. It worked well since I'm rather familiar with Laphroaig. The wood influence might be a bit much, but today it doesn't bother me. That said, the finish might warrant a slight score adjustment. 89/100.
