Scapa 21YO tasting notes
Scapa 21YO OB 70cl 52.9% ABV
Small Batch
Bottle code LKPV4845 2024/08/27 14:13

Color: deep gold.
Nose: soaked apples, prominent perfume notes, fresh bread crumbs, cloves, heather, clay, milk chocolate, salted caramel, pencil shavings, leather, apricots, pepper, pears, vanilla, and roasted chestnuts.
Taste: apples, honey, cloves, apricots, orange zest, caramel, pepper, almonds, different kinds of chocolate. Exceptionally smooth, with no noticeable impact from the higher proof.
Finish: honey, pepper, caramel, licorice, marzipan, milk chocolate, mint, lemons, tobacco, and a hint of bitter wood.
Score: 8 ¾. Better than good. +2+2+1.
Conclusion: a highly enjoyable and easy-drinking malt, reminiscent of their new 16-year-old release but slightly more refined. 87/100. The 16-year-old Scapa sells for $60 before taxes per bottle at K&L Wines, while the 21-year-old is priced at $160 — a price difference that is not justified by the improvement in quality. The packaging is undeniably attractive.
