Well SFJAZZ always says do not make photos... I was an SFJAZZ member for a couple of years and now I'm not, partially due to this policy. There's a lot of other shows available so I can always choose where to go.
Making a few photos at a show is a part of my listening experience. I write notes for every show I attend mentioning songs played, other details, overall impression etc.
