Lochlea Fallow Edition NAS OB 70cl 46% ABV
Third Crop series
Bottled 2024
Matured in 1st Fill Oloroso sherry butts

Color: chestnut.
Nose: dates, figs, rose petals, bread, prunes, meadow herbs, baked apples, nuts, nougat, lacquer, dried apricots, honey, a touch of rubber, peppercorns.
Taste: pears, peaches, honey, a bit of pepper, bread, hard candies, plums, lemons, chocolate, vanilla ice cream.
Finish: pears, peaches, hard candies, dark chocolate, pepper, plums, lemons, herbs.
Score: 8 ¼. Nearly good. +1+1+1.
Conclusion: a sweet and diluted sherry malt. Nothing too bad, but nothing particularly exciting either. Third Crop is the final release in a set of four limited editions, marking the end of Lochlea's Seasonal trilogy. I suppose it is time for them to move on to something else. I tasted the first Sowing, the second Harvest, and for some reason completely missed the Ploughing editions. Overall they were not particularly interesting. In fact, this Fallow edition is the best of the three I have tried, with a moderate score of 82 out of 100.
