2023 Ridge "East Bench" Zinfandel 75cl 14.3% ABV
USA, California, Sonoma County, Dry Creek Valley AVA, Funsten Ranch

Aged 14 months in American oak barrels (14% new, 10% one year old, 10% two years old, and 66% five-plus years old)
Color: dark purple.
Nose: brambles, herbs, dates, blackcurrants, plums, allspice, blueberries, cherries, mint chocolate, hibiscus tea, a faint whiff of smoke, graphite.
Taste: plums, tannins, cherries, chocolate, pepper, a hint of salt, cranberries. Solid, vibrant acidity (T.A.: 6.1 g/L, pH: 3.64).
Finish: cherries, redcurrants, brambles, chocolate, tannins, pepper, cranberries.
Score: 9 ¼. Better than good. +3+2+2.
Conclusion: a very enjoyable Zin from Ridge, almost as good as their 2021 East Bench. I appreciate the relatively low ABV of 14.3%. I don't know if the wine will improve with time, always wanted to drink Ridge bottles now. 92/100.
